[hdvideo id=548]

On October 3rd, three fishermen from the Philippines were rescued in Palau waters after drifting in the open sea for 48 days.
The fishermen Leomil Ungab, Milnard Ungab and Junjun Ibanez all from the Philippines were working with a fishing company out of Indonesia when they experienced mechanical problems with their boat in August.
The fishermen report that they were about 27 miles from their port in Indonesia when the engine problems began.
Although the men were able to get the engine fixed their boat had drifted far out.
Two weeks after they left their port, the crew ran out of gas and food. They tried flagging down passing vessels for assistance, but were reportedly ignored.
The men reportedly made a small raft after their boat was capsized until they were rescued in Palau waters by Kuniyoshi Fishing Company vessel.
Philippines Honorary Consul Eric Whipps, the national government and the Filipino Community have assisted the three since their arrival.
Confirmation of their citizenship is being processed at this time, which will determine the type of aid they will receive.
