One of the most largest hotel chains in the Pacific is considering re-investing in Palau. Outrigger Hotels expressed interest to return to Palau during a meeting with President Remengesau in Hawaii last week.
At his weekly press conference on May 15, President Remengesau said he’s happy to know that Outrigger is seriously thinking about coming back.
The President revealed that Outrigger expressed plans to build a 150-170 room hotel, an investment plan that the Republic welcomes, however he indicated that he made it clear to them that the Republic expects no less than a five-star hotel should they re-invest in Palau.
The investment, if comes to light, would give Palau a big boost says the President.
In the late 90’s, Outrigger and Palasia Hotel partnered up for a joint hotel investment venture, but plans to expand fizzled out.
In 2007, the chain again announced plans to construct a new hotel in Palau, but the project is still years away from completion.
Outrigger Hotels is a Hawaii based chain operating hotels, condos and resorts in Hawaii and the Asia-Pacific region.
