In early March 2013, dry weather conditions affected Lae Atoll in the Marshall Islands limiting villagers of water supply.
“Every water catchments are empty, there’s absolutely no water in these catchments,” said Jina David, Water Quality Extension Agent of the College of Marshall Islands.
Like Ebeye Island, the people of Lae are relying on reverse osmosis machines for fresh water supply that has become a struggle as the unit only produces 11 gallons of water per hour.
