On April 29, Senate swiftly approved pending cabinet nominees during its second regular session.
The Senate unanimously approved Elbuchel Sadang’s appointment to head the Ministry of Finance by roll call. Sadang previously served as the Finance Minister during the entirety of Remengesau’s first term as President.
He was first appointed as the President’s Chief of Chief before his nomination to the Finance Ministry.
During the same session day, the Senate unanimously approved Charles Obichang to head the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Industries and Commerce (MPIIC) by acclamation or clapping.
Obichang served as the Director of Aviation prior to his nomination to the head MPIIC. In addition to the approval of both cabinet nominees, the Senate also approved the appointment of Satrunino Tewid to serve as the Republic’s Public Auditor. Two Ministries still remain without nominees – the Ministry of State and the Ministry of Education.
