Palau President Remengesau this month is set to submit the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2013 and 2014.
During his weekly press conference on April 3, President Remengesau said he will make every effort to submit a balanced budget. He said budget cuts are definitely on the table, but as savings from efficiency, from consolidation of services, privatizing functions, and not from cutting salaries or laying off employees.
The President is also looking into improving tax collection efforts such as investing some of the budget this year to improve the Bureau of Customs and Bureau of Taxation for collection.
The President further added that the administration will try to balance the budget by thinking outside of the box.
