With North Korea escalating its threats to attack U.S. military bases including the Andersen Air Force base in Guam, Palau, the territory’s neighbor, is urging the U.S. for an update of their plans.
Palau’s request was made after the U.S. announced that they will be deploying a missile defense system to protect Guam in the event of an attack.
According to the President’s Press Office, the administration has reserved concerns regarding the matter. The administration asked the U.S. on Friday April 5 what their strategic plan for the region is, given Palau’s close proximity to Guam.
With the upcoming Joint Committee Meeting, Palau stressed that that would be an ideal time for a briefing of the matter.
