On Wednesday February 6, Flemming Umiich Sengebau was unanimously approved by the Senate to serve as the Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Tourism (MNRET).
The three remaining ministerial appointees namely – Greg Ngirmang for the Ministry of Health, Secilil Eldebechel for the Ministry of Finance and Andrew Tabelual for the Ministry of Education were rejected.
All three appointees failed to secure the required 9 votes for approval, but will be reconsidered during the Senate’s next session.
With one of his cabinet appointments approved, President Remengesau announced and submitted his Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs appointee, Baklai Temengil who has served as the PNOC Secretary General for a number of years.
The Ministry of State and the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Industries and Commerce remain without appointees.
