Bopha Upgraded To Typhoon, Set to Strike Palau

Tropical Storm Bopha has been upgraded to a Typhoon as it accelerates toward Palau. Typhoon Bopha is moving 11 miles per hour west-northwest.  Currently it is 745 miles from Palau and is expected to pass 3o miles north of Koror, Palau’s city hub.  Maximum sustained winds are expected to be 126 miles per hour with gusts of up to 150 miles per hour.  Maximum wave height will be 25 feet.  The typhoon is expected to strike late Sunday evening, December 2.  Palau’s National Emergency Management Office has issued a Condition 3 warning to alert the Palau public that the Typhoon will strike within 48 hours.  Continue to watch OTV for updates.
