Palau President Reflects on 2012 Election

In the wake of the November 6, 2012 election, President Johnson Toribiong sent the following heart-felt text-message to his close supporters:

“My friend, it was one of the most exciting and memorable journeys of my life, unforgettable.  But the roller coaster ride is over.  Back to really living, to stop and smell the roses or sip a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, so to speak. Now I breathe a deep sigh of relief. My physical endurance, mental agility, and psychological tolerance and pocket book were stretched to the limit.  Now as the dust settles, I laugh to myself, as I have to pay my bills.  It was an expensive ride.  But a ride of a lifetime, which took me to palaces, international fora and national capitals, and throughout Palau from Kayangel to Helen’s Island.  Now I have to pick up the pieces and walk onto a less hectic path while cherishing the memories of what I did which I don’t believe I could repeat ever again even if I were asked to do it.   JT xxoo”
