The Office of President has partnered up with the Ministry of Education, Palau Community College, Palau National Scholarship Board and the Office of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), in creating a bold program to provide a tuition-free education for Palauan students.
This program dubbed as Palau Promise Scholarship Program aims to provide two-years of free education or tuition-free education at PCC for all Palauan students graduating from local high schools, GED program and adult high school every year.
Beginning school year 2015 to 2016, the President’s office and MOE will work with partner agencies in providing assistance to graduating students planning to attend PCC. In addition, student mentoring and tracking will be administered throughout the duration of the program to guarantee student success.
President Remengesau stressed that many Palauan students fail to enroll at PCC due to financial issues, he says this program would help those students and their families in addition to producing highly trained local workforce.
The program expects to enroll and assist 80% of graduating students in school year 2015-2016 and 2016-2017.
