One of eight Ministerial positions in Palau’s Executive Branch has been vacant since President Remengesau took office in January 2013.
The Minister of Education position has remained without a new nominee after Andrew Tabelual, current Principal of Koror Elementary School and President Remengesau’s earlier appointee failed to secure the required votes from the Senate.
This week, Keobel Sakuma, Press Secretary for the President announced that Remengesau would be submitting a new nominee before the Olbiil Era Kelulau’s regular session in April.
It’s uncertain if the President will resubmit Tabelual’s name or submit a new nominee for the position.
