Koror, Palau – John Skebong and Joseph Giramur are the latest to file their nominating petition for Palau’s upcoming national election in November.
Skebong previously ran for the Senate office at the 2008 national election and also ran during the special senate election, which Senator Camsek Chin won. He did not prevail in both elections, but has decided to run once more.
This is however Giramur’s first time running for public office. He filed his nominating petition with the Office of the Election Commission this week for the House of Delegates representing Peleliu State.
Meanwhile those who have previously filed their petition or declared their candidacy have somewhat been silent in their campaign strategy. Reports have shown that both Phillip Reklai and Tommy Remengesau Jr. have begun campaigning. Reklai was reportedly going house to house while Remengesau is off-island speaking with Palauan voters abroad.
Aside from small campaign signs posted in various stores around Koror, there are no visible signs on the side of the streets to date such as the signs posted during the special senate election last year and previous national elections.
