On April 23, following the opening of the Regional Explosive Ordnance Disposal Training School, the Australian Ambassador to Palau, the FSM and the Marshall Islands announced additional aid to the Republic.
The Australian Government committed $3 million to help Palau in reducing the number of unexploded ordnances particularly in Koror, Peleliu and Babeldaob, Palau’s main island.
Australian Ambassador Martin Quinn stated, “this commitment will improve the lives of Palauans and increase the ability of tourism operators to showcase the country’s natural beauty.”
