Unconfirmed reports reaching OTV indicates that Governor John Ehsa of Pohnpei State, Federated States of Micronesia has been impeached by the state’s legislature.
Ehsa was reportedly impeached during the state’s June 15, 2015 session when 19 Senators voted to pass the articles of impeachment. According to online information, the Governor must vacate his office immediately upon receiving the official transmittal until the Pohnpei Supreme Court hears the case.
News of the Governor’s impeachment surfaces two-years after five Pohnpei state senators attempted and failed to impeach him via resolution. The 2013 proposed impeachment resolution listed various accusations against Ehsa such as the implementation of the School Lunch Program and his extensive traveling.
