A young woman believed to be of Yapese descent will go on trial beginning January 27, 2016 for the fatal November 2014 auto-pedestrian accident that killed three teenage girls in Guam.
Quadlyn Gorong, 24, reportedly of Yap, Federated States of Micronesia according to her now inactive Twitter account, was indicted in March 2015 on 3 counts of manslaughter with a special allegation of possession and use of a deadly weapon in commission of a felony, 3 counts of negligent homicide with a special allegation of possession and use of a deadly weapon in commission of a felony, 3 counts of reckless driving with injuries and 3 counts of reckless conduct.
After three months of investigation into the deaths of best friends 19-year old Cherrica Gallen, 16-year old Saly Edwin Santos and Julia George also 16 led prosecutors to indict Gorong who initially pled not guilty to the charges against her.
Gorong allegedly struck the three girls in the early morning hours of November 29, 2014 while the girls were walking along a road in Yigo before fleeing the scene.
The deaths of three friends caused public outcry for justice throughout the country prompting Micronesian Youth groups to organize vigils and call for justice.
