A head-on collision on January 24, 2015 caused the first car accident-related fatality for the New Year. Isaac Stephanus, a local man in his 60s, died shortly after the accident occurred on the Compact Road in Ngaraard State.
Bureau of Public Safety’s PIO Rebecca Ngirngebedangel says the victim collided with a pick-up truck that was going the opposite direction. The two-occupants of the truck sustained injuries.
Esebei Kanai, an assistant to the Vice President broke his jaw, while his passenger Tanya Owens dislocated her hip, fractured her arm and backbone.
According to Ngirngebedangel, alcohol was not observed on the victim and is not considered to be a factor in the accident.
