A Typhoon warning is now in effect for the Republic of Palau, specifically the states of Koror and Kayangel.
On Wednesday December 3, 2014, the National Emergency Management Office (NEMO) issued a public announcement encouraging the public to begin preparing themselves for this storm.
Typhoon Hagupit, according to the latest data, is located at about 475 miles east of Koror and 460 miles east of Kayangel, moving toward the west at 17 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 100 miles per hour. The current forecast track from NOAA brings the eye of the storm close to North Kayangel and Koror Thursday morning.
NEMO is asking the public to secure any loose objects around the house, restock emergency supplies and prepare for the storm.
