The Bureau of Public Safety (BPS) last week raided two local establishments in an operation using informants.
OTV contacted BPS Director Ismael Aguon who confirmed the raids on the Encounter Restaurant KTV and Venus Restaurant KTV both located in Koror.
Director Aguon could not disclose why police organized the raids citing, “I cannot discuss details of the ongoing investigation at this time.”
It’s not clear if any items were confiscated during the raids or if any arrests were made, however information regarding the investigation will be shared upon conclusion says Aguon.
In the past, bars, restaurants and other establishments raided by the police resulted in prostitution, money laundering and human trafficking charges.
One of the locations raided, the Encounter, is located in Malakal next to the former Shangri-La Massage and Parlor, the current subject of court proceedings for allegations of prostitution and human trafficking.
