Five police officers are due to resign from their positions immediately, following an internal investigation into police bribery allegations.
Last month, the internal investigation launched by the Bureau of Public Safety through the Division of Criminal Investigations when allegations of police officers accepting bribes surfaced.
Police officers were allegedly accepting bribes from foreign workers who may have been in violation of the law rather than issue citations.
In a press release to media dated on February 17, 2014, the Ministry of Justice revealed that the police officers have since been informed of the outcome of the investigation.
All five officers also expressed their intent to resign from their positions immediately.
The Ministry of Justice did not reveal the identities of the police officers nor provided details regarding the outcome of the investigation. However the case has been forwarded to the Attorney General’s office for prosecution.
