After spending some time in the Pacific, Robert Diemer, an American lawyer who is a writer at heart, wrote his first novel “The Widow’s Son” with the Federated States of Micronesia and the Micronesian region as its setting.
The “The Widow’s Son”, a tropical island mystery, follows an American attorney Drake Burnham, who agrees to defend Jangle Elwell, a mysterious, trouble-making Kosraean.
Faced with Max Coleman, a tough Judge in Pohnpei, Burnham is forced to solve a bank robbery and murder in paradise.
Although “The Widow’s Son” is fictional, the story in itself reveals some realities of Micronesia and its people — bringing the characters life.
With a thrilling story, the book is gaining attention in the region, but is also garnering attention with international readers.
College of Micronesia is in the process of bringing in the book to the FSM.
Diemer also expressed that the book will be made available in Guam bookstores and hopefully other stores in the region
