Palau President Tommy Remengesau Junior has expressed his intention to re-submit his special prosecutor nominee to the senate.
Don Dorfman, the President’s nominee for the post, was considered by the senate this year, but was rejected twice.
On September 10, during a meeting with traditional and elected leaders, President Remengesau made announced his intent to resubmit his nominee.
The President says he continues to receive information and feedback from the public regarding the Special Prosecutor’s issue.
He says majority of the response indicates that we need the Office of the Special Prosecutor, and that there shouldn’t be any other issue about whether we should have it or not.
He pointed out that if there’s no other information about Dorfman’s qualifications or lack thereof, he will resubmit the nominee and ask the Senate to reconsider his nomination.
