The Palau Supreme Court has arraigned a man for drug trafficking following an investigation by the drug task force.
On September 12, the Supreme Court arraigned Yoichi Suematsu on Trafficking in Controlled Substance into the Republic, namely methamphetamine.
Information from the Attorney General’s office reveals that on September 11, the Post Office in Koror received a package containing methamphetamine.
Customs, Post Office and Public Safety’s Narcotics officials, who are also members of the task force, conducted an investigation, which led to Suematsu’s arrest.
According to the AG’s office, Suematsu was arrested when he attempted to pick up the package.
Drug trafficking is a growing problem not only in Palau, but also in the region.
