Last week, the first Palau Fire Academy kicked off with over a dozen participants.
Lt. James Mesa of the CNMI Fire Department, who is heading the training, says they want to instill professionalism and discipline into the firefighters.
The four-week training includes simulated drills such as putting out a fire, operating fire pump as well as how to enter a burning house.
