The Supreme Court has arraigned four cases of attempted murder and murder in the second degree following a series of violent attacks in Palau.
On July 25, Chief Justice Arthur Ngiraklsong arraigned Zylden Yano on charges of attempted murder, robbery, aggravated assault, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and grand larceny in connection with events that took place on July 20th at Bem Ermii in Airai.
Yano entered a not guilty plea on all charges against him and is being held on a $25,000-dollar cash bail or $50,000 surety bond.
On July 23, the Supreme Court arraigned William Mobel Junior also known as Mala on two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of aggravated assault and attempted murder in the second degree for allegedly shooting a male victim in the head and stabbing him with a knife on July 21st at the Community Health Center in Ngerbeched.
Mobel entered a not guilty plea on all charges against him.
The defendant is being held on a $10,000-dollar cash bond or $20,000 surety bond.
On July 22nd, the court arraigned Paul Annes on charges of murder in the second degree, voluntary manslaughter, and aggravated assault for allegedly fatally shooting a male victim with a spear gun in Iyebukel hamlet.
He entered a not guilty plea on all the charges against him.
The fatal shooting stemmed from a fight between the defendant and the victim at Q-Ball.
On July 18, the court arraigned Johnston Etpison on two counts of aggravated assault, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and attempted murder in the second degree in two separate incidents, one at Bem Ermii in Ngerbeched and another in Meyuns hamlet.
Etpison entered a not guilty plea on all charges against him and is being held on a $50,000-dollar cash bond or $100,000 surety bond.
All defendants remain in police custody except Annes, who posted a surety bond this week.
