The government of the Federated States of Micronesia has donated $30, 000 to the Republic of Palau towards Typhoon Bopha relief efforts.
While attending the 13th Micronesian Presidents’ Summit on July 11th, FSM President Manny Mori handed over the assistance to President Remengesau and the Palau Red Cross Society.
According to online information from the FSM Government, President Mori said that the small amount of money is to assist Palau with relief efforts for those affected by the Typhoon Bopha, which devastated the northern part of Palau in December 2012.
He called the assistance as FSM’s gesture of support in the Micronesian brotherhood that binds Palau and the FSM.
Palau Red Cross Society and President Remengesau expressed their appreciation to the President and the government of FSM for the assistance.
President said the amount might be considered a “small amount”, but it matters so much to those in need.
The FSM Congress reportedly approved the assistance this year, which became an FSM public law on February 12, 2013.
