The Republic of China-Taiwan’s non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) has donated a number of supplies to the Marshall Islands as part of a continued effort to assist with the drought disaster.
Dozens of cases of food and medical supplies were handed over to the Marshall Islands Chief Secretary Casten Nemra on July 3rd.
According to reports, drought information provided by the Marshall Islands Embassy in Taipei prompted NGO’s including a religious group to gather supplies for donation.
Donated goods include rice, water, medical kits and instant noodles.
Since the government elevated the drought emergency to drought disaster in May, the Taiwan government has donated over $100,000 in funding assistance to help with relief efforts.
More than 6,000 people in the northern Marshalls continue to face severe drought conditions with food and water supply as their biggest concerns.
