Last month, ELEFA and the Women Athletics Club organized a fundraising concert in hopes to raise funds to assist in relief efforts.
ELEFA Advisor Marie Maddison says that since the government elevated the drought emergency to drought disaster, the agency has been organizing events “to help the government in meeting the needs of the people in the outer islands” by raising funds and collecting donations.
An entrance fee of $3 per person was charged to participants during the fundraising concert.
A number of dances and musical performances were played throughout the night.
More than 6,000 people in the northern Marshalls are affected with the severe drought that has wiped out water supply and crops in a number of remote islands.
