Palau Senator Hokkons Baules has been sentenced to serve 30 days in jail for violating his probation for the second time.
On June 10th during his sentencing hearing, Associate Justice Lourdes Materne ordered Baules to serve 30 days for violating his probation for a criminal case that he was earlier convicted of and sentenced.
In September 2012, Baules was released from jail after serving a 90-day jail sentence for several counts of assault and battery. He was placed on probation for two years and 9 months and ordered not to have any contacts with the plaintiffs.
Following his release, Baules violated his probation when he had contacts with one of the plaintiffs, which led to an extension of his probation.
On the following month, Baules was attacked by Kenheart Andrew at the Midtown Mobil gas station. Baules, although claimed he was acting in self-defense, did not stop hitting Andrew with a chair when he was down on the ground. This led to his conviction of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in May this year, but during his sentencing hearing, the judge suspended his jail sentence.
Judge Materne suspended his five-year jail sentence to a 5-year probation, ordered to pay a fine and restitution for Andrew’s hospital bills, undergo anger management and write a letter of apology.
Baules was then ordered to serve 30 days in jail for violating his probation, but the court allowed work release condition.
He is set to begin serving his sentence on June 22nd.
