The Palau Peer Review team consisting of Maybelline Adon-Bing from the Marshall Islands, Natalia Palu-Latu from Tonga and ‘Alopi Latukefu of AusAID has completed Palau’s review process.
During the two-week consultation, the team met with various stakeholders from the national government, state government, non-governmental organization and the private sector.
The team expressed that they were impressed with some of Palau’s achievements such as its planning as the country has in place long-term, medium-term and short-term plans – important blocks that helps Palau move forward.
“We were also really impressed with the sustainable development and conservation work that Palau is involved with and has been leading in the region as well as the international community,” expressed Natalia Palu-Latu of Tonga.
A summary recommendation will be submitted to Palau highlighting areas for improvement as well as highlight the country’s achievement.
Palau is the 10th Forum Island Country to volunteer in the peer review process.
