Palau’s new Police Director has officially taken his oath of office to lead the Bureau of Public Safety. During his swearing in ceremony on April 15, new Director Ismael Aguon spoke about his dedication to his career and a conflict he faced in his third year as a police officer.
He went along to describe his first crisis as a member of the police force following a case involving drug kingpins as he pledged to work with the Republic’s police force to address challenges.
President Remengesau appointed Director Ismael Aguon, who previously served as the Deputy Director of the Foreign Investigations Unit (FIU) immediately after former Director Yano’s resignation.
Yano was placed on leave after the new administration took office. He submitted his resignation about two months after he was placed on leave.
