Two explosions killed several and wounded hundreds at the finishing line of the Boston Marathon in the United States on April 16 Tuesday evening.
As runners crossed the finish line synchronized bombs detonated ten seconds apart in crowds of spectators.
Shrapnel tore through victims leaving many with amputated legs and deadly wounds to their lower bodies. At least three were killed including an eight-year-old boy. Two other devices were located around the area and were dismantled.
At this time no one has claimed responsibility for the bombing leaving speculation as to weather it was domestic or international terrorism. The bombs are believed to have been simple explosive devices that did not use any military grade of explosive.
There are no suspects at this time however police have been told to be on the lookout for a dark skinned male possibly with a foreign accent. On news of the bombing air traffic was shut down over the skies of Boston and stock markets overseas tumbled.
The Boston Marathon was established in 1897 and is one of the largest running events drawing hundreds of thousands of participants and spectators from around the globe.
