The Palau Community College (or PCC) has banned any and all types of card games on campus in efforts to address illegal gambling.
A memorandum signed by PCC’s President on April 2nd prohibits card games in any of the property’s owned by PCC including those outside of Koror State. Several students were suspended last year for their involvement in illegal gambling, but the games have expanded said the school.
“Such expansions has come to the point that students have managed to come up with an appearance of ‘innocently’ playing simple card games, but with a covert exchange of money”, states the school’s memorandum.
The memorandum however does not only apply to students, but the faculty and staff of PCC. Sources say illegal gambling by use of card games, a game known as Zorro has gained popularity amongst students and adults alike.
