Top police officers within Palau’s Bureau of Public Safety have been shuffled around in what the Ministry of Justice calls a necessary action in light of recommendations made by the President’s transition committee.
Three division chiefs swapped position – leaving posts they have served for a number of years. The actions were made days after Minister of Justice and VP Bells placed two top Bureau officials on leave.
Criminal Investigation Division Chief Aloysius Alonz was moved to the Division of Corrections, DOC Chief Omtei J. Ringang was moved to the Fish and Wildlife Division, while Chief of Fish and Wildlife Richard Ngiratrang was reassigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. Bells explained that the reassignments are temporary while the Bureau is being reorganized and assessed based on the transition committee report.
