An investigation has been launched into matters relating to police officer Korhonen Kotaro amid allegations of improper approval of his reinstatement.
Officer Kotaro was allegedly reinstated by Director Norvert Yano, but without the proper approval from the Minister of Justice, Vice President Tony Bells. The matter has prompted the Ministry of Justice to launch an investigation to review the status of Kotaro’s employment with the Bureau of Public Safety.
Officer Kotaro was reportedly placed on indefinite leave after criminal charges were filed against him for violently assaulting his girlfriend last year. On Friday January 25, Kotaro appeared in court for his first initial hearing on the case where he pled not guilty to all charges against him. He is set to appear in court again on February 25 for the plea trial setting conference.
