Palau Judiciary operations at the Capitol Building in Ngerulmud, Melekeok were suspended indefinitely on January 9 following a serious mold problem.
Sources say lack of air conditioning resulted in a serious mold and mildew problem at the entire Capitol. The Palau Judiciary reported that at least one Court employee has contracted a medical condition related to the exposure to mold.
In an attempt to prevent any further exposure, the Judiciary moved all court operations to the Supreme Court offices in Koror until the problem is completely resolved.
A temporary air conditioning repair costing $208,000 is underway.
