The first ever 2012 Micronesian Regional Women’s Summit will be held at the Palau Ngarachamayong Cultural Center on August 1st to August 3rd, hosted by the Mechesil Belau in coordination with the Office of the President, symptoms Ministry of State and the Palau Community College. Participants are women’s groups from the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Republic of the Marshall Islands and Palau. The goal of this program is to identify common issues in the region, developing solutions, and goals to strengthen traditional and cultural knowledge among Micronesian women. Political, social, economic and gender equality are the key for achieving a sustainable future and therefore theme for the event is “ Weave and Balance the Basket: Strengthening Micronesian Women through Culture, Tradition and Knowledge to Meet Today’s Challenges.” The 2012 Micronesian Women’s Summit was made possible through a grant from the US Department of Interior, Office of Insular Affairs.
